Bay Federal Credit Union Continues to Make Environmental Impact by Raising Over $6,700 for Local Non-Profit Foundation

Bay Federal Credit Union raised $6,735 for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation during an eStatement campaign promoting electronic statements and environmental protection. The Credit Union ran similar campaigns in 2021 and 2022, which generated $20,360 for the Foundation, totaling $27,095 in donations over three years.

Between August 1 and August 31, 1,347 members made the switch from paper to eStatements. The incentives? An opportunity to protect our environment, the chance to win cash prizes, and a five-dollar donation to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation on behalf of every member who opted in.

"We are deeply grateful to Bay Federal Credit Union for their remarkable commitment to both our environment and our community,” said Ginaia Kelly, Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation Chapter Director. “Their e-statement campaign not only demonstrates their dedication to reducing our carbon footprint but also their unwavering support of sanctuary programs. Together, we are creating a sustainable legacy that will benefit generations to come.”

The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is the local non-profit partner for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Working to inspire the public to protect the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary through participation in and support of sanctuary programs, projects, and partnerships, they are well on their way to properly recognizing the sanctuary as the national treasure it is. With unique and abundant biodiversity, and widespread community support, The Foundation can continue this necessary work and Bay Federal Credit Union continues to be a proud partner of their efforts.

The cash prizes for Bay Federal’s 2023 campaign included $1,000 grand prize, $500 for second-place, and $100 for five runners-up.
