Benson Porter Joins ASA Board of Directors
ASA is an embedded fintech solution that connects financial institutions with customer-facing fintechs in a secure, compliant and easy to implement marketplace. The company today announced that seasoned financial services executive Benson Porter has joined its board of directors, helping accelerate the collaborative banking movement.
Porter has over 30 years of experience leading both organic and merger-oriented growth strategies along with implementing effective control structures in high growth scenarios. Porter recently retired as the president and CEO of Seattle-based BECU, which has grown to be the third largest credit union in the country under his leadership. Prior, Porter served as the surviving CEO following the largest merger-of-equals within the credit union industry between Addison Avenue FCU and First Tech Credit Union. Porter recently completed service on the Boards of COOP Solutions and Origence, including a term as Board Chair of the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) of Des Moines, following its union with the FHLBank of Seattle. This combination represented the first merger within the FHLBank system.
"ASA is solving a critical problem for banks and credit unions – how to enable secure access to a wide variety of technology to meet customers’ and members’ unique needs without the heavy burden of one-to-one fintech integrations,” said Porter. "I believe in the ASA movement, and look forward to offering my decades of experience in unlocking scale and innovation within a highly regulated industry as ASA scales its collaborative banking platform.”
ASA has introduced a new form of Open Banking. With ASA’s embedded fintech model, financial institutions and fintechs work together, enabling the bank or credit union to be the gateway to the technology customers crave. Last year, the company announced that former executive vice president and corporate CIO at JP Morgan Chase Austin Adams joined its board and that longtime ABA executive Lisa Gold Schier joined as chief strategy officer; the addition of Porter further strengthens ASA’s dynamic leadership team.
"ASA is bridging the gap between fintechs and banking by building a new set of rails that enable partnership at scale. I’m confident Benson will help further that mission," said Landon Glenn, CEO and founder of ASA. "Benson has a proven track record of execution and success, and his expertise will provide instrumental value as we support our customers and partners in reimagining bank-fintech partnerships both now and in the future."
