Centra Recognized With Statewide Awards From the Indiana Credit Union League

Centra Credit Union was recognized for two statewide awards for philanthropic efforts and financial education programs by the Indiana Credit Union League. Centra’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Amanda Edwards, was also selected for the League’s Emerging Leader award. The award recipients were announced at the Indiana Credit Union League Chairman’s Awards Banquet on Friday, October 27. Centra was awarded the following.

First place for the Alphonse Desjardins Award for Adult Financial Literacy. This award recognizes leadership and activities that support the personal financial education of Members and non-Members. Centra was awarded first place for the team’s partnership with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and several other local community leaders to create the Targeted Investment in Minority Entrepreneurs (TIME) program.

TIME’s mission is to help minority entrepreneurs build financial bridges and establish networks of support with local experts. The vision behind TIME is that the success of minority businesses acts as a catalyst to create wealth for minority entrepreneurs, their families, and employees. As a local credit union who focuses not only on their Community, but also Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Centra is grateful to be a partner in the launch of this program.

First place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award. This award recognizes a credit union or group for its social responsibility projects within the community. Centra was awarded first place for the team’s partnership with Turning Point Domestic Violence Services in hosting their Raise the Roof with Rick event.

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, a local non-profit, works around the clock to meet the needs of all they serve. 2022 was projected to have a huge increase in the number of services provided in every program area. Centra offered support by hosting a

fundraiser called Raise the Roof with Rick to support the shelter. Centra President and CEO Rick Silvers sat on the roof at Centra’s 501 Washington Street location to raise awareness and donations for Turning Point’s emergency shelter. The team set an initial goal of raising $20,000. But, thanks to the local community, the event raised more than $51,000.

Amanda Edwards selected for Emerging Leaders Award. Centra Credit Union’s Senior Vice President of Operations Amanda Edwards was also selected for the league’s Emerging Leader Award. This award recognizes the next generation of credit union leaders in Indiana for their accomplishments and potential to be an Indiana credit union leader.

“Amanda works tirelessly to accomplish the goals she has set out for herself, and her care for Centra’s Team Members and Members shows greatly through her hard work and dedication,” Centra President and CEO Rick Silvers said. “Her positivity, unwavering passion for our Members and Team Members, as well as her strategic leadership sets her apart as a true Credit Union emerging leader.”
