Hawaii State FCU Donates $20,000 To Friends Of The Library Of Hawaii In Support Of 74th Annual Booksale

Hawaii State FCU members will have early access to the book sale on June 16

Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) presented a $20,000 check donation today to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii in support of the 74th Annual Booksale which will be taking place at Ward Village from June 17-25, 2023. As a title sponsor of the booksale, Hawaii State FCU members are invited to attend a Members’ Preview Sale on June 16, 2023 from 4-8 p.m.

“Hawaii State FCU is proud to continue our longstanding tradition of sponsoring the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and it’s annual booksale for the past 10 years,” said Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “All of the money raised during our members’ preview night will directly benefit the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and their mission to maintain free public libraries across the state. Hawaii State FCU’s support for the public library system is in direct alignment with our commitment to financial literacy and helping Hawaii’s keiki succeed.”

Hawaii State FCU has been the title sponsor of the Annual Friends of the Library of Hawaii Booksale since 2013. The credit union has donated nearly $280,000 to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and has raised an additional $115,000 in sales at the Annual Booksale through Hawaii State FCU’s members’ preview nights.

 “Friends of the Library of Hawaii is sincerely grateful for ten years of wholehearted support from the Hawaii State Federal Credit Union staff and members. Not only do they provide sponsorship funding, but their staff volunteers at Friends of the Library of Hawaii fundraisers and library events, and goes above and beyond to share their expertise in a variety of areas to help Friends of the Library of Hawaii succeed,” said Nainoa Mau, executive director of The Friends of the Library of Hawaii. “Hawaii State FCU has invested in communities across the state through their support of Hawaii’s public libraries.”

The 74th Annual Booksale will be held at Ward Village in the former Pier1 Store location and will feature more than 100,000 books in every category. The Booksale will also feature a selection of CDs, DVDs, comics and manga, as well as an eclectic selection of donated art, including  modern art, prints from local artists, lithographs, and sculptures.
