Mazuma Credit Union to Host “I Love My Credit Union Day” Celebrations in KC

Social Media and In-Branch Events Spotlight Local & International Credit Unions

Mazuma Credit Union will host I Love My Credit Union Day events at the majority of its branch locations across the metropolitan area on Friday, July 26th in cooperation with Envisant, a subsidiary of the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL). I Love My Credit Union Day brings the global credit union movement together to inspire authentic, high-energy conversations about why Members love their credit unions. The event is one of the many ways Mazuma celebrates its Members, the credit union movement, and its Kansas City community year-round.

“I Love My Credit Union Day gives us an opportunity to spotlight and celebrate the ways in which credit unions around the world improve financial wellbeing and make a difference for the Members we exist to serve,” says Mazuma’s President and CEO, Deonne Christensen. “The credit union movement’s philosophy of ‘people helping people’ makes an impact worldwide, as each credit union works to improve the lives of its Members and local community.”

Modelled on last year’s successful festivities, Mazuma will host celebrations at 10 of its branch locations around the city, offering free local treats to Members who stop in to do business or just to say hello. Photos from these celebrations will be shared with others throughout the worldwide credit union community on Mazuma’s social media channels using #ilovemycreditunion. When they fill out a note sharing what they love about Mazuma, Members will be able to enter a drawing to win Sporting Kansas City or Kansas City Current tickets. The day offers a great opportunity for Members to visit their favorite branch, show appreciation for the Team Members who provide them with personalized service, and join in celebrating the local and global credit union movement.

“We’re always eager to talk about how credit unions help create better lives and more vibrant communities. We welcome non-Members who may be curious about how credit unions are different to visit us as well!” says Laura Eblen, Mazuma’s VP of Member Engagement and Government Affairs, noting that credit unions in Kansas and Missouri provided over $250 Million in direct financial benefits to their Members in 2023.

Mazuma Credit Union serves over 73,000 Members in the Kansas City metropolitan area and is active in advocating for credit unions and their members at the state and federal levels. As a not-for-profit, Member-owned financial institution, the credit union is able to offer Members who live or work in Kansas City lower loan rates, higher dividends, and personalized Member service.
