Veridian to replace North Waterloo branch lost in Logan Avenue Hy-Vee closure
Veridian Credit Union has announced plans to construct a new branch in North Waterloo less than a mile from its former branch located inside the now shuttered Hy-Vee store at 2181 Logan Avenue. That branch was required to close with Hy-Vee’s decision to permanently close its store on June 23. Veridian has entered into an agreement to purchase property on the northeast corner of the intersection at Logan Avenue and Heath Street with plans to open a new branch on that site.
“We started looking for opportunities to replace our Logan Avenue branch soon after learning that we’d be required to close it,” said Veridian’s President and CEO Renee Christoffer. “That closure created a financial desert, and we understand the hardship that creates in our community. We’re grateful to have found a way to continue serving our members there in person.”
A timeframe for construction and the new branch’s opening has not yet been determined. Once open, it will provide all the same services previously offered at the former Logan Avenue branch with additional space and drive-up access.
