BrightBridge Credit Union (BrightBridge) is proud to announce that Consumer Underwriting Manager Matthew Medeiros will be running the 2026 Boston Marathon in partnership with Credit Unions Kids at Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funding for scientific research to prevent, treat and cure pediatric neurological diseases.
All funds raised through his run will directly benefit Boston Children’s Hospital, supporting their critical pediatric care and research.
This marks Medeiros’ second time running the Boston Marathon with Credit Unions Kids at Heart. He first ran the marathon in 2019, when he was paired with his patient partner, Vraj, a now 14-year-old boy living with cerebral palsy. “It’s been a joy to watch Vraj grow over the last seven years,” says Medeiros. “He’s quick to give hugs and share his enthusiasm for Taylor Swift. I’m honored to be running on his behalf again and to support the research and services that help him and his wonderful family.”
Since his first marathon, Matt’s perspective on the cause has deepened. “When I ran the Boston Marathon in 2019, it was extremely important for me to support kids and families in need,” said Medeiros. “Now, I’m running with the same passion but as a husband and father of two. I feel incredibly blessed to have healthy children, but that is not the case for many other families. That reality makes this mission even more personal and meaningful to me. No family should have to face these challenges alone, and I’m honored to run again to support kids like Vraj.”
Medeiros has spent more than a decade at BrightBridge working his way up from teller to consumer underwriting manager. Known across the organization for his positive attitude, energy, musical talents and commitment to helping others, Medeiros embodies the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”
Credit Unions Kids at Heart is committed to advancing research and care for children with complex neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy, pediatric epilepsy, pediatric brain cancer, and Moyamoya Disease. Through direct support of Boston Children’s Hospital, the organization helps drive innovation, treatment and essential services for pediatric patients and their families.
With the Boston Marathon just months away, BrightBridge is rallying around Medeiros to drive fundraising efforts and advance the mission of Credit Unions Kids at Heart. Community members are encouraged to donate directly to Medeiros’ fundraising campaign, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital to support their pediatric neurological research, treatment and patient care.
