Commitment to Advocacy, Support, and Local Priorities Remains Central During Leadership Change

California’s Credit UnionsNevada’s Credit Unions, and Utah’s Credit Unions today announced leadership transition plans and reaffirmed their commitment to the Fuel Solutions model. Current President and CEO Scott Simpson will assume his new role as President and CEO of America’s Credit Unions effective November 3, 2025. Until that time, Simpson continues to lead the three Leagues, working closely with leadership and members to support credit unions across the states.

To ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition, the Boards of each League have formed search committees to guide the process of identifying successors. The committees will each take a deliberate and thorough approach in selecting a leader who can build on the organization’s momentum and position credit unions for continued success.

“Our members can be confident that this transition will not slow the progress we’ve made together,” said Scott Arkills, Chair of Nevada’s Credit Unions and President and CEO of Silver State Schools Credit Union. “The Fuel Solutions model ensures that Nevada credit unions remain a strong, unified voice while also preserving the ability to focus on local priorities. We are committed to finding a leader who will build on this momentum and continue advancing opportunities for our members and communities.”

“This is a pivotal moment for our association, and we are proud to move forward with both stability and purpose,” said Tammy Phillips, Chair of Utah’s Credit Unions and President of Varex Federal Credit Union. “Our collaboration across states gives us the scale and strength to influence important issues, while our local focus ensures Utah credit unions remain deeply connected to the people we serve. Our search process will be intentional, and we are confident our next leader will carry our vision forward.”

“Our focus remains on supporting members, advancing California credit union advocacy, and fostering collaboration,” said Donna Bland, Chair of California’s Credit Unions and President and CEO of Golden 1 Credit Union. “The Fuel Solutions model provides a strong foundation for collective support, ensuring each state’s voice is heard and represented. Together, we remain dedicated to protecting the credit union operating environment while advancing our shared mission of helping credit unions change people’s lives.”

During the transition period, leadership teams for California, Nevada, and Utah remain aligned with each respective organization’s values and are fully committed to delivering the advocacy, education, and support that members expect. This includes strengthening the collaboration among state Leagues while ensuring local priorities remain at the forefront.

The League board chairs emphasized that this transition represents not only a change in leadership, but also a reaffirmation of their shared vision for the future. The search committees will provide updates to their respective members as the process moves forward.
