CUSG Launches New Microsite to Drive Modernization and Fundraising for Credit Union House

CUSG is proud to announce the launch of a new microsite dedicated to supporting the modernization and fundraising efforts for Credit Union House. This initiative underscores CUSG’s commitment to the credit union movement and proactive approach in leading the fundraising campaign essential for this vital project.

Established in the early 2000s to create a permanent presence for the credit union movement on Capitol Hill, Credit Union House has been instrumental in advocating for credit unions while also serving as a welcoming hub for advocates visiting Washington, DC. The facility has become a focal point for credit union leaders to connect with lawmakers and promote the cooperative spirit of the movement.

As a world-class events facility, Credit Union House allows the credit union community to host important discussions and meetings with key policymakers. With a rich history of advocacy, the reimagined Credit Union House will offer an immersive experience featuring digital storytelling, data-driven insights, and curated exhibits.

“I fell in love with Credit Union House, our industry’s advocacy home away from home, the first time I went inside,” shared Patty Corkery, President and CEO of CUSG and the Michigan Credit Union League. “Michigan has utilized the house for years for gatherings with our delegation. Joining the board of directors of Credit Union House has been a huge honor. It was an easy decision to offer our talented technology team to create a website to lead the way on the fundraising efforts of our much-needed modernization project. Please consider supporting our efforts and learn more about our initiative by checking out the website!” Patty Corkery also serves as Treasurer of the Credit Union House Board of Directors and co-chairs the fundraising committee alongside Cornerstone League President/CEO Caroline Willard.

Sue McCue, Credit Union House Managing Director, emphasized the collective effort behind the project, stating, “The Credit Union House Modernization Project is a collaborative effort led by Leagues and operated by America’s Credit Unions and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, with construction by New Ground and powered by local credit unions across the nation. Reinvesting in this incredible presence in our nation’s capital ensures that Credit Union House remains a true representation of our cooperative values and the credit union impact on Main Street.”

Credit Union House welcomes an average of 2,400 visitors annually and hosts over 70 events each year. As $6 million is sought from credit unions and system partner organizations, everyone in the credit union community is encouraged to contribute to this cause and help bring this modern-day interactive experience to life. The funds will finance essential repairs, including roof replacement, facade restoration, and infrastructure upgrades for enhanced accessibility and technology.

The modernized Credit Union House will serve as a living testament to the impact credit unions have on their members and communities, showcasing the tangible value they provide.
