El Paso, TX evolve FCU hosted its second Social Purpose event of 2025. On Saturday, July 26thevolve FCU held, Summer Slam 2025, at the El Paso Chihuahuas. The Social Purpose partners included for this event were The Child Crisis Center, El Paso Children’s Miracle Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, The Center Against Sexual and Family Violence, Candlelighters, and Make-A-Wish, respectively. The event was held at a private area where the organizations enjoyed hotdogs, soft drinks, snacks and an exciting baseball game between the El Paso Chihuahuas and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Chihuahuas toppled the Cowboys 5 to 1.
Many of the children and families that were there had never been to a minor league baseball game. Sadly, some of the families that were there have also lost a child to cancer. A Candlelighters representative stated, “Often the grief is too heavy for the parents, and they neglect their children that are still here with them.” In this case she wanted to invite them to make sure those kids are still being heard while they go through that unimaginable experience.
Make-A-Wish kids in attendance had an unforgettable experience as they got a signed baseball hat from Chico, the ballpark mascot. They enjoyed a great Harry Potter themed firework show. It was the perfect way to end the summer break for most children as they head back to school for the Fall semester.
