Recent awards from USA Today, Worcester Business Journal, and The Telegraph reflect the organization’s unwavering commitment to putting members at the center of every decision

The two divisions of First Tech Federal Credit Union, Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) and First Tech Federal Credit Union (First Tech), announced a series of major industry recognitions that reaffirm its leadership in member-first service excellence across the country.

First Tech was recently named one of “America’s Best Customer Service in Financial Services 2026” by USA Today, earning a 5-star top rating—one of only three credit unions nationwide to receive the highest distinction among the 32 evaluated. This recognition reflects the organization’s deep belief that exceptional financial service begins with truly understanding and prioritizing member needs in every interaction.

DCU continues to be recognized for its outstanding commitment to members within the communities it serves. The Worcester Business Journal (WBJ) recently named DCU the Best Credit Union in Central Massachusetts for the 10th consecutive year, and The Telegraph honored DCU as the Best Credit Union in Greater Nashua for 2025. These regional accolades demonstrate how DCU’s member-first mindset translates into trusted, long-standing relationships and consistent support for members’ financial well-being.

Together, these recognitions highlight how the recently combined First Tech organization continues to reinforce a unifying philosophy centered on member trust, care, and partnership. Member-first service is not simply a differentiator — it is one of the defining values guiding the future of the united credit union.

“Receiving recognition from USA Today, WBJ, and The Telegraph is a tremendous honor and a direct reflection of the trust our members place in us every day,” said Jason Heupel, Chief Experience Officer at First Tech. “As First Tech and DCU move forward together, our members inspire us with every interaction, every question, and every financial milestone to deliver service that is not only personal and friendly but also guides them as they navigate the path to long-term financial success.”

First Tech’s USA Today distinction was based on more than 57,000 customer responses and 75,000+ verified reviews gathered between September and October 2025 through a study conducted with the Plant-A Insights Group. Respondents evaluated financial services organizations across seven dimensions of service, including professional competence, friendliness, reliability, availability, solution orientation, customer service, and problem solving.

For more than 70 years, First Tech and DCU have built their reputations on listening to members and designing experiences around their needs. These latest recognitions reflect a long-standing commitment to walking alongside members on their financial journeys by celebrating milestones, removing obstacles, and providing guidance rooted in care, integrity, and partnership. As the two organizations continue to integrate, their combined strength will further elevate their ability to deliver member-first, world-class experiences — today and long into the future.
