The Georgia Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, proudly announces that Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) has been named the 2025 Federal Lawmaker of the Year in Georgia.
He was formally honored this week at the America’s Credit Unions Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.
“Credit unions are an integral part of America’s consumer financial network, providing access to affordable financial services for families and small businesses across the nation,” stated Congressman Barry Loudermilk, Vice Chair of the Financial Institutions Subcommittee. “This is why I am committed to reducing unnecessary government regulation, modernizing regulatory agencies, and advancing innovation to ensure these community based financial institutions have the tools and resources needed to serve their customers, while maintaining a strong and secure financial system.”
“Congressman Loudermilk’s leadership on the House Financial Services Committee and his role as Vice Chair of the Financial Institutions Subcommittee demonstrate a strong commitment to policies that recognize the unique value of credit unions,” expressed Samantha A.M. Beeler, President of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates. “He understands the impact these institutions have on financial access and economic opportunity across Georgia, and we are grateful for his continued partnership and support.”
After being nominated by the Federal Advocacy Policy Committee, Congressman Loudermilk’s nomination was unanimously approved by The League Board of Directors following discussion of her support for credit unions and their legislative priorities.
As Vice Chair of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions, Congressman Loudermilk plays a key role in overseeing financial institutions, regulators, and lending policy, with a focus on ensuring access to safe, innovative, and consumer-friendly financial services. Congressman Loudermilk has demonstrated his commitment to modernizing financial regulation through efforts such as sponsoring legislation to update currency transaction reporting thresholds, helping reduce unnecessary regulatory burden while preserving strong safeguards. His work reflects a clear understanding of the important role credit unions play in serving local communities, expanding access to credit, and supporting financial stability.
“Congressman Loudermilk’s relentless work to modernize outdated regulatory requirements for credit unions and advance thoughtful policy demonstrates his understanding of how these policies affect his constituents back home and the financial institutions that serve them,” continued Ibby Dickson, Manager of Federal Advocacy at The League. “We congratulate him on being named the 2025 Federal Lawmaker of the Year in Georgia and thank him for his continued leadership and partnership.”
We appreciate Congressman Barry Loudermilk and his dedicated service on behalf of our members throughout the State of Georgia.
