Position Summary

University Credit Union is seeking a forward-looking, Chief Information Officer who can serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team—leading UCU through its next phase of growth and digital evolution.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Information Officer will drive the systems architecture behind UCU’s digital business acceleration and increase operational efficiency and resilience. The CIO leads the Information Technology department in the strategy, planning, implementation, and integration of all information systems, and manages key relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders.

The CIO oversees all aspects of Information Systems, Program and Application Development, Technology Infrastructure, Data Science, and Security Operations, and owns the Technology Strategy for the Credit Union.

Essential Functions

  • Design and implement a modern IT environment focused on enhanced digital experience and outcomes
  • Lead end-to-end digital transformation and cloud migration initiatives
  • Develop and deliver an enterprise data strategy to accelerate digital transformation
  • Drive automation with intelligent decision-making capabilities
  • Oversee solution architecture design, monitoring, and continual improvement using human-centered design principles
  • Manage product development using agile delivery practices and culture
  • Map business capabilities and processes to long-term technology solutions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and IT security requirements

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish a clear IT vision and technology strategy to drive innovation and reduce complexity
  • Migrate the Credit Union to a modern, nimble architecture serving members and employees
  • Deliver all IT services across the Credit Union, assessing risk with transparency
  • Manage and build strategic vendor and fintech partnerships
  • Develop and manage the IT annual operating budget with strong cost stewardship
  • Ensure IT governance, operating dashboards, and KPIs align with business objectives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, diverse IT team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team, providing technology leadership and strategic alignment

Qualifications

Education

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field required
  • MSc/MA preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of management and leadership experience
  • At least 5 years in senior management and/or executive roles
  • Proven oversight of IT operations, risk assessments, vendor management, and systems integration
  • Strong track record of P&L responsibility and delivering results in a high-performance culture
  • Experience leading organizations through complex, multi-year digital technology transformations
  • Previous experience working at the intersection of new technologies and legacy systems

Base Compensation: $231,042 – $308,057
