Junior Achievement of the Space Coast (JASC) and Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU) are proud to continue their four-year partnership by making a powerful impact on the next generation through the upcoming Junior Achievement in a Day (JA in a Day) event.
SCCU is an ambassador-level sponsor of the nonprofit for 4 years and has donated more than $40,000 to help young people discover what’s possible for their future.
“Our partnership with SCCU strengthens our community by providing students with lifelong skills to ultimately create a more financially savvy, resilient Space Coast for years to come,” says Candice Hodge, Vice President of Education. “Having SCCU volunteers engage with students in the classroom through fun, hands-on activities reinforce the message that SCCU is invested in the boundless potential of our Brevard County youth and that’s a message that can stay with students throughout their lives.”
On March 13 nearly 80 dedicated SCCU Team Members volunteered their time and talents at Quest Elementary School guiding approximately 700 young students through interactive financial literacy lessons designed to shape their future success. By fostering an early understanding of financial responsibility and career readiness, SCCU is helping to equip students with the essential skills they need to thrive.
“Space Coast Credit Union is beyond honored to partner with Junior Achievement of the Space Coast to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders by equipping them with essential financial education,” said Gary Prager, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. “JA in a Day is especially meaningful to SCCU, as we are deeply committed to fostering financial wellness, innovation, and the entrepreneurial spirit—empowering young minds to shape their own futures while giving back to the communities we serve.”
JA in a Day is a daylong event at Quest Elementary in Brevard County, where SCCU Team Members led students through important lessons that connect what students learn in the classroom to real-world applications. Additionally, the credit union donated a variety of supplies and activities to each student, including cups and sticker sheets for all, zippered wallets and pencils for grades 4 to 6 and activity sheets and colored pencil sets for grades K to 3. In addition, the credit union donated a rolling supply cart to each classroom teacher
This comes as an extension of SCCU’s longstanding dedication to supporting JASC. The credit union is proud to have allocated thousands of combined volunteer hours, goods and supplies over the years. Looking ahead, SCCU will continue to support the nonprofit at other programs in schools throughout the east coast of Florida.
