League System and AACUL Congratulate Scott Simpson on New, National Role

In December 2024, AACUL President Brad Miller presented Scott Simpson with the prestigious AACUL Eagle Award recognizing exemplary League leadership.

Scott Simpson, current president and CEO of the California Credit Union League and Nevada’s Credit Unions and CEO of Utah’s Credit Unions, will succeed Jim Nussle as president and CEO of America’s Credit Unions beginning Nov. 3, 2025, the national trade association announced earlier this week.

“On behalf of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), I’m thrilled to congratulate my longtime colleague and friend, Scott Simpson, on being named the next President and CEO of America’s Credit Unions,” shared AACUL Chair and CrossState Credit Union Association President and CEO Patrick Conway. “Having served alongside Scott as fellow league presidents, I’ve seen firsthand his passion for the credit union movement, his ability to bring people together, and his unwavering commitment to our members. Scott’s deep experience, collaborative spirit, and vision for the future will be an incredible asset to our unified voice, and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role.”

With more than two decades of proven leadership in the Credit Union-League System championing credit union advocacy, public policy, and organizational strategy, Simpson steps into the role with deep experience and a strong track record of advancing a unified credit union movement across multiple states and on the national stage.

“AACUL congratulates Scott Simpson on being named the next President and CEO of America’s Credit Unions. Scott is a trusted and respected leader whose deep experience in advocacy and association leadership has made a lasting impact at both the state and national levels,” lauded AACUL President Brad Miler. “He understands the importance of collaboration across leagues, credit unions, and industry partners, and he brings the vision and skill needed to lead our movement into the future. We look forward to working closely with Scott to strengthen our unified voice to protect and advance a vibrant credit union system.”

In his current role, Simpson championed a unique, cross-state partnership model designed to maximize collaboration while maintaining strong, state-level leadership. Under his direction, credit unions in California, Nevada, and Utah navigated complex political environments, strengthened their advocacy efforts, and expanded their reach to better serve diverse communities. He also led the establishment of Fuel Solutions, a support organization for state trade associations.

In addition to his many leadership positions and well-deserved accolades, Simpson served on the AACUL board for nearly a decade and is a recipient of AACUL’s highest recognition — the prestigious Eagle Award.
