The Culture of Finances program from MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) continues to help individuals achieve financial literacy through its courses and is proud to present its winter 2025 graduates.

Since 2023, The Culture of Finances has dedicated itself to educating individuals and developing their financial growth through unique educational courses. It provides participants with resources to take charge of their monetary habits and become financially confident.

“The Culture of Finances is a vital community outreach program engineered to equip individuals with the essential tools, practices, and resources required for achieving sustainable financial wellness,” said Jamara Randall, The Culture of Finances Manager. “We are thrilled to celebrate the successful conclusion of our fifth cohort, commemorating the graduation of 80 dedicated participants. Over a three-month period, these individuals focused rigorously on cultivating sound financial habits, including effective debt management and meticulous budgeting. We extend our sincerest congratulations to all graduates and applaud their commitment to long-term financial success.”

Since its first graduation of 20 individuals in 2023, the program has only continued to grow. The 12-week program includes six mandatory sessions for participants to learn about various ways to achieve financial literacy. Topics include Breaking Barriers, Spending with Intention, Owning Your Credit, Protecting Your Identity, Financial Freedom: Conquering Debt, and Bridging the Gap. An optional session on Starting Your Business Journey is also available.

“I am glad I was able to attend this course even though I was in a different state,” said participant Ashley Smith. “There was a lot of information that I can use and can pass down to my kids, other family members, or friends. I feel more confident about making a solid financial plan and sticking to it.”

“The program has definitely increased my confidence financially,” added participant Kartrell Esper. “I have a clear vision of what my goals are and how to obtain them because of this program.”

Additionally, winners were announced for the Art of Finances contest. All TCOF participants are asked to create an original piece of art and an essay on diversity in finances. Judges review the artwork and essays, with the most weight given to the essay and how it is tied to the art.

Laneisha Evans, Selena Ledesma, and Olivia Mireles each received $500 for their winning submissions.

Registration for the spring 2026 cohort opens soon.
