Payfinia, an independent payment services firm providing an open payments framework, announced today, from the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) conference, that it has partnered with CU*SOUTH, a 100% credit union-owned credit union service organization (CUSO) that provides essential products and services for credit unions.
This partnership will provide credit unions with opportunities to leverage advanced embedded payment solutions and unique digital wallet services.
CU*SOUTH’s member credit unions will now have access to Payfinia’s open payments infrastructure, including its Instant Payment Xchange (IPX) network, to move money faster, more securely and with greater control via the FedNow Service and RTP Network. Additionally, credit unions will gain access to an innovative suite of digital wallet services that extend the credit union’s brand, deepen member relationships and drive new revenue opportunities.
Payfinia enables credit unions to activate these capabilities within their existing core and digital banking environments, supporting real-time account-to-account payments alongside secure digital wallet services for consumers and businesses.
“Payfinia brings a modern approach to payments that aligns well with how our credit unions think about growth and member service,” said Bob West, CEO of CU*SOUTH. “This partnership strengthens our ability to offer scalable, forward-looking solutions that help credit unions stay competitive while remaining true to their cooperative mission.”
Payfinia’s role within the broader payments ecosystem will allow CUSOUTH credit unions to benefit from capabilities delivered across both sides of the transaction. Once integration work is completed, credit unions will be able to leverage IPX to support real-time money movement for a variety of consumer and business use cases.
Embedded digital wallet services delivered through trusted digital banking channels help credit unions grow market share while supporting the money movement experiences that members demand. Payfinia’s collaboration with CUSOUTH’s partners will ensure that various platforms can accept and support those payments, creating a holistic payments environment for credit unions and their members.
Together, CU*SOUTH and Payfinia will help credit unions enhance efficiency and improve the member experience by enabling faster money movement. Participating credit unions can improve cash flow for members and businesses while reducing friction tied to legacy payment processes. Payfinia’s open architecture also supports continued adaptability as payment expectations and technologies evolve.
“Credit unions face growing pressure to keep pace with rising expectations for real-time access and digital-first financial services,” said Keith Riddle, general manager of Payfinia. “By partnering with CU*SOUTH, we are extending our open payments framework to more credit unions, giving them a flexible and secure way to deliver instant and digital payment capabilities while maintaining operational stability and member trust.”
