Annual Snack Stock Initiative Grows Through Community Partnerships
PenAir Credit Union (PenAir), in partnership with Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, delivered more than 7,500 individually packaged snacks to Ascension Sacred Heart Cancer Center on Thursday, June 12. The donation marks the successful completion of PenAir’s third annual Snack Stock initiative, aimed at providing comfort and nourishment to cancer patients and their families during treatment and appointments.
Throughout May, PenAir branches and Blue Wahoos home games served as collection points for community members to donate single-serving snack items—such as chips, pretzels, popcorn, cookies, and protein bars. The effort ensures the Cancer Center’s snack cabinet remains stocked, giving patients easy access to quick and nourishing options during a physically and emotionally demanding time.
“Our partnership with Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation has helped us deepen our impact and ensure these donations reach those who need them most,” said Connie Hansler, Sponsorships & Events Specialist at PenAir. “Teaming up with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos also brought the community together in such a meaningful way and gave us our largest single year donation to date. This is Communerosity® in action!”
Since launching the initiative in 2023, PenAir has helped organize the donation of more than 15,000 snacks to support local cancer patients. Research from the American Cancer Society highlights the importance of nutrition during treatment, as it can help patients maintain strength, better manage side effects, and improve overall quality of life.
