Mayor Cherelle Parker recently attended a monthly meeting for the Greater Bustleton Civic League (“The Civic League”) on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The meeting was held in the Community Room of American Heritage Credit Union’s (“American Heritage”) Northeast Philadelphia campus on Red Lion Road.

Mayor Parker spoke before the group on a variety of topics, from the recent back-to-back snowstorms as well as her “Safe, Clean, and Green” initiative which brings together multiple city departments. Madam Mayor also acknowledged the rich history of community involvement within the Bustleton community. She was able to touch upon her own background in Philadelphia and relay the pride that she shares for the city. Those in attendance were able to ask Madam Mayor questions and form a dialogue.

“I was honored to visit the Greater Bustleton Civic League Tuesday evening,” said Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. “The members of the Civic League and the residents of this community do the most valuable thing any resident can do: they engage and participate in our democracy. They attend civic meetings, they ask questions of their public leaders, and they follow up and seek results. It’s my privilege to serve as their Mayor.”

The Greater Bustleton Civic League has been in existence for more than 80 years. The Civic League is “an all-volunteer group of Bustleton residents that act as a voice for the community when needed on issues such as public safety, zoning, crime, and cleanliness.” Their mission is to “preserve, improve, and ensure appropriate development” of the local Bustleton community. American Heritage has hosted The Civic League’s meetings for the last ten years, and has its main headquarters nestled in the heart of the Bustleton community right on Red Lion Road.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Madam Mayor and her entire team for attending our February meeting,” said Jack O’Hara, President of the Greater Bustleton Civic League for the last 13 years. “Her presence was welcomed warmly by everyone in attendance, and we appreciate her taking the time to meet our members, share insights, and show her support for our great, local community. I also thank the entire team of American Heritage for being such gracious host and partner to our League for a decade.”

“It was our absolute pleasure to host Madam Mayor and the Greater Bustleton Civic League on our campus,” said Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage Credit Union. “This meeting made it clear that we all share in the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’ Here at American Heritage, we are honored to be associated and host such an important community group such as the Civic League.”

The Civic League’s next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 7 PM in American Heritage’s Community Room, and the meeting is open to the public. You can learn more about the Greater Bustleton Civic League here.
