Purdue FCU turns financial flexibility into a community lifeline

In a move that proves the “People Helping People” philosophy is alive and well in Indiana, Purdue Federal Credit Union recently presented a $4,165 donation to The Pax Center with funds raised directly through the credit union’s December and January Skip-a-Pay promotion.

Each year, eligible members in good standing have the option to skip a credit card, vehicle loan or personal loan payment for a small administrative fee. A portion of those fees is then directed toward a selected local nonprofit organization, allowing members to make a meaningful impact in the communities Purdue Federal serves. When members get a little breathing room, the whole community breathes easier.

The Pax Center works to ensure individuals and families in LaPorte County have consistent access to nutritious meals and welcoming spaces for connection. The organization operates a food pantry three days a week, serves two hot community meals each week and maintains community gardens and green spaces that provide fresh produce while bringing neighbors together.

The funds will help support ongoing programming, pantry operations and the continued care of the gardens and gathering spaces that serve the La Porte community.
