Telhio Credit Union ventured out of the office and into the show ring on July 30 as part of the 5th Annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Celebrity Steer Show. The event is a collaboration between RMHC, Telhio, The Ohio State University College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences, and the Ohio Cattleman’s Association to raise funds for families and children staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. Between peer-to-peer giving, an online auction, and sales of the steers bid on by public donors, an unprecedented total of $322,000 was raised.

Hosted at the Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, Telhio supported this cause by partnering with 4-H student Taylor Sherman and her steer, Alvin, along with social media personality Zoe Kent of Kent Farms, for this cause. The team, Banking on Alvin, led by Telhio’s CEO Derrick Bailey, won the Grand Champion designation for raising the most funds – $56,000.

“The 2025 Celebrity Steer Show was a major success and such a rewarding experience partnering with Taylor for this event,” said Telhio CEO Derrick Bailey. “Her family’s story, and the circumstances of so many others are greatly impacted by the work of the Ronald McDonald House, and Telhio is proud to continue supporting this effort year after year.”

Since its inception in 2019, the Steer Show has raised over one million dollars in proceeds directly supporting more than 4,500 families that use the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio annually. It is the largest in the world with 206 guest rooms and 230,000 square feet of kitchens, dining areas, playrooms, laundry facilities, a meditation room, exercise room, and informal gathering areas.

“Telhio is more than a donor for the House,” said Dee Anders, CEO of RMHC. “Telhio is an invested, engaged partner, helping us to strategically grow our impact and we are fortunate to have a long-term collaboration with this wonderful group.”

The total funds raised are the equivalent of more than 3,000 nights of rest for families whose children are hospitalized in the Columbus area.
