Our Deepest Appreciation

US Flag with the words Thank you on it

Each Memorial Day, the Defense Credit Union Council, its member credit unions, and our system partners encourage all Americans to pause and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. It is a special day as we remember their sacrifice with deep gratitude, and we hold their families and loved ones in our thoughts.

We also recognize the enduring weight of that sacrifice for those left behind. Whether it is the empty seat at the table, missed family milestones and events, and the lifelong pride and grief carried by America’s Gold Star families, we cannot overlook the sacrifices they make as a result. Today, we also salute and honor those military families for their ongoing courage and extend our deepest appreciation for all they have given.

DCUC and its member credit unions are fully committed to serving our nation’s military families and the communities that support them. As such, we are mindful that our mission is rooted in service and will always rise above to support millions of active-duty members, Guard and Reserve, veterans, and Gold Star families.

Memorial Day is a great day to reaffirm our industry’s commitment to being a steady, trusted partner while helping America’s military and veteran members navigate everyday financial needs and long-term goals with care, respect, and integrity.

Plus, DCUC member credit unions are often led and staffed by veterans. So, we understand what it is like to adapt to the demands of military life: frequent moves, long deployments, rigorous training schedules, and many family transitions. Reliable support always matters in combat, in garrison, and especially during those times when a credit union member is injured or killed in service to our nation.

May we honor the fallen not only with remembrance, but also through continued support for those who serve and those who carry their legacy forward. We pray for the safety of all who serve today and for comfort for every family who bears the cost of service. Wishing you and your family a meaningful Memorial Day.
