Atlantic FCU Promotes Two Heavy Hitters to C-Suite Roles

Atlantic Federal Credit Union is beefing up its leadership roster with a couple of promotions that make a whole lot of sense—tapping two veterans who’ve already proven they know how to move the needle.

Jonathan Stowers is stepping into the Chief Operations Officer seat after spending more than a decade at Atlantic, most recently running the IT department. Now he’s taking the reins on both operations and technology—basically everything that keeps the lights on and members happy. Think of it as overseeing the engine room while making sure the whole ship runs smoothly.

Meanwhile, Chris Perry is moving up to Chief Lending Officer after seven years of building out Atlantic’s commercial lending business. And he didn’t just build it—he turned it into something worth bragging about. Under his watch, Atlantic became Maine’s top credit union for SBA lending and significantly grew its commercial portfolio. In his new role, he’ll shape the overall lending strategy while keeping a hand in commercial lending and helping scale up the mortgage side of things.

Both promotions signal that Atlantic is serious about growing smart, not just growing fast. It’s the kind of move that happens when you’ve got talented people already in the building and you’re wise enough to recognize it.

“As Atlantic continues to grow, we’re focused on doing so in a way that strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful value for our members,” said Scott Chretien, President and CEO of Atlantic Federal Credit Union. “That means thoughtful execution, expanding access to financial services, and leveraging technology to better serve the people and communities who count on us every day.”

Translation: they’re playing the long game, investing in operational excellence and technology that actually makes life easier for members across Maine.
