Sunmark Credit Union just landed a heavy hitter for its finance team.
Meet Channing “Chip” Harwood, the credit union’s newly appointed Chief Financial Officer who’s bringing more than a quarter-century of financial services expertise to the role.

“We’re excited to welcome Chip to our leadership team,” said Jerilee Beaudoin, President and CEO of Sunmark Credit Union. She emphasized that Harwood will be instrumental as the organization continues its growth trajectory while staying true to its core mission: creating real value for members and making their financial lives better.
So what makes Harwood the right person for the job? His resume reads like a masterclass in credit union leadership. Over his 25-year career, he’s built a reputation as someone who gets results—whether that means boosting financial performance, driving organizational growth, or tightening up internal controls. In other words, he knows how to make the numbers work while keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Before joining Sunmark, Harwood held the Executive Vice President and CFO position at GFA FCU. That’s just the latest stop on a career path that includes senior leadership roles at Empower Federal Credit Union, AmeriCU, Signal Financial Federal Credit Union, and Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union. If there’s a corner of the credit union world he hasn’t seen, it’s a pretty small corner.
Harwood’s credentials include his CPA certification and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Towson State University. The search that brought him to Sunmark was conducted by DDJ Myers.
