CapEd Credit Union Brings Finance Veteran Nick Sanzana on Board as New CFO

CapEd Credit Union just scored a heavy hitter for their finance team. Nick Sanzana is stepping into the CFO role, ready to bring his financial chops to Idaho’s credit union scene.

Ray Lindley, President and CEO at CapEd, isn’t hiding his enthusiasm about the hire. “We are excited to have Nick join our executive team,” Lindley explains. “Nick brings great experience with a deep knowledge of financial services to help us in our mission of service, financial empowerment and education.”

So what’s Sanzana bringing to the table? Most recently, he was pulling the strings as SVP of Finance over at Sunwest Bank. His resume there reads like a greatest hits album: he ran financial operations, handled budgeting and stress testing, managed incentive compensation programs, and kept the Asset Liability Committee running smoothly. Oh, and he steered the ship on annual planning too.

Here’s the impressive part—during his time at Sunwest, the bank’s assets grew four times over. That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident. Sanzana’s expertise in liquidity management and interest rate risk didn’t just keep regulators happy; it gave leadership the financial intelligence they needed to make smart strategic moves.

For Sanzana, this wasn’t just another job opportunity. It was a perfect match from day one. “From my first conversation with CEO Ray Lindley, I knew CapEd was where I wanted to be,” he says. “CapEd’s commitment to its members and this community is what drew me to this role. I look forward to partnering with Ray Lindley and the Board, bringing sound financial leadership to help CapEd continue their path as Idaho’s premier credit union.”

The credentials back up the confidence. Sanzana holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from California Lutheran University and recently completed Pacific Coast Banking School—because even finance pros never stop learning.

Sanzana also had kind words for the matchmakers who made it happen. “From the initial conversation through the final offer, DDJ Myers who conducted the search, provided invaluable support,” he notes. “I’m grateful they identified this opportunity and guided me through every step of joining CapEd Credit Union.”
