Designer Handbags, Power Drills, and $13K for Kids: How a Bingo Night Is Changing Young Lives

The Kids-N-Hope Foundation just wrapped up its summer Purse & Power Tool Bingo event, and the results are pretty impressive.

The evening brought in $13,000 to support music therapy programs and child life services at local hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Not too shabby for a night of bingo with 185 people who clearly know how to have fun while doing good.

Twenty Rounds, Countless Smiles

Attendees played twenty rounds of bingo throughout the night, competing for prizes that ranged from high-end handbags to professional-grade power tools. Between games, there were raffles and plenty of time to catch up with friends and family. But the real winner? Local kids who benefit from the programs this foundation supports.

The timing couldn’t be more meaningful. This year marks the Foundation’s 30th anniversary—three decades of making a difference in young lives. Bruce K. Foulke, who’s both the founder of Kids-N-Hope and President & CEO of American Heritage Credit Union, started the organization back in 1996 with a simple goal: support pediatric health and life services in the community. Since then, the Foundation has raised more than $5.1 million and helped over 10,000 children. That’s the kind of impact that speaks for itself.

What’s Next: Cow Chip Bingo (Yes, Really)

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to all our participants and volunteers who supported this month’s bingo event,” Foulke said. “We are so grateful to everyone who continues to support The Foundation’s mission to fund local pediatric health and life services, especially Music Therapy. Your generosity helps us live out our mission and allow these critical services to be continued for our community.”

If you’re thinking this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, you’re in luck. The Foundation has two more events on the calendar for 2026:

  • Cow Chip Bingo & Community Day on Saturday, September 12th—exactly what it sounds like. Buy a bingo square, let a cow determine the winner (nature’s random number generator), and potentially win cash. The day also features vendors, food trucks, and activities for kids.
  • Final Purse & Power Tool Bingo on Friday, November 13th—one last chance this year to score designer goods or quality tools while supporting a great cause.

Sometimes the best fundraisers are the ones that don’t take themselves too seriously while tackling serious issues. Kids-N-Hope has clearly figured out that formula, turning game night into meaningful change for children who need it most.
