Consumers Credit Union Plants Its Flag in Indiana with New Angola Branch

Consumers Credit Union ground breaking Angola Indiana

Big news for Hoosiers: Consumers Credit Union is officially putting down roots in Indiana.

After expanding their charter into the state back in 2024, they’re not just testing the waters anymore—they’re building an actual office. And not just any office, but their very first brick-and-mortar location in the entire state.

Construction just kicked off on a 2,225 square-foot branch in Angola, Indiana. You’ll find it at 2855 Seranova Way, and if all goes according to plan, the doors should open in early 2027. Think of it as Consumers’ way of saying “we’re here to stay” to their new Indiana neighbors.

What’s Inside the New Branch?

This isn’t going to be some bare-bones outpost. The Angola location is coming fully loaded with everything you’d expect from a full-service financial institution—and then some. We’re talking:

  • Personal checking and savings accounts
  • Credit cards and mortgage options
  • Comprehensive lending and banking services
  • Investment opportunities
  • Financial education resources

But here’s where it gets interesting. The office will feature Consumers’ TellerPlus+ technology in both the lobby and drive-thru lane. Translation: faster service without sacrificing the personal touch. They’re also throwing in a complimentary coffee bar (because who doesn’t need caffeine while managing their finances?), wireless banking stations with Wi-Fi, and dedicated spaces specifically designed for loan consultations and member services.

Why Angola Matters

“Crossing into Indiana is a significant step for our credit union,” explained Lindsay McCall, Chief Operations Officer at Consumers. “Angola gives us the chance to bring the same level of member service our communities in Michigan have come to expect to a whole new group of neighbors.”

Shawn Detamore, Regional Vice President at Consumers, echoed that sentiment with an eye toward the future. “This location puts us in a strong position to grow alongside the Angola community. We’re looking forward to getting to know the local businesses and families here and building the kind of relationships that make banking feel personal.”

And that’s really what this expansion is all about—taking the playbook that worked in Michigan and introducing it to Indiana communities that value personalized service over automated everything.

The project brings together JICI and Bosch Architecture, who are handling the design and construction duties for this milestone location. With their expertise backing the build, Consumers is setting the stage for what could be the first of many Indiana branches.

Mark your calendars for early 2027, Angola. Your new credit union is on the way.
