As of today, Williamsville State Bank & Trust customers are now officially part of the Land of Lincoln Credit Union family.
The Decatur, IL-based credit union has completed its acquisition of the bank, picking up substantially all of its assets and liabilities in the process.
What does this actually mean on the ground? For starters, LLCU just expanded its reach across Illinois with two new branches in Sherman and Williamsville. That brings their total branch count to 15—not too shabby for a credit union with serious growth ambitions.
“We look forward to welcoming Williamsville State Bank’s customers and employees to LLCU and to improving access to our services throughout the greater Springfield area,” said Robert Ares, President and CEO of Land of Lincoln Credit Union. He added that former WSBT customers now have full member status at LLCU, complete with access to everything the credit union offers.
And here’s the thing about credit union membership: it’s not just a new account number. Former bank customers can now tap into LLCU’s full lineup of products and services—essentially trading in their old banking relationship for a new one with potentially more bells and whistles.
This acquisition isn’t a random move, either. It’s part of LLCU’s broader game plan to expand their footprint throughout Illinois, adding branches and entering new markets to serve more members across the state. Think of it as strategic growth with a purpose: getting closer to the people who need their services.
