“Together we’re stronger.” That’s the belief Secured Advantage Federal Credit Union says guided its search for a new leader, and it landed on Mindy Maghupoy to carry it forward. She is the credit union’s new President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), placed by executive search and leadership development firm DDJ Myers.

Board President Ray Hathaway says her track record of serving members and communities was a big part of the appeal. “We’re confident her leadership will deepen member relationships and expand the positive impact we have in the communities we proudly serve,” he says.

A Résumé Built for the Job

Maghupoy arrives with more than 15 years in financial services leadership. Since 2021, she has served as President/CEO of The Infirmary Federal Credit Union. Over her career, she has concentrated on:

  • Strengthening financial performance and asset quality
  • Modernizing technology and the ways members do their banking
  • Tightening up operations and risk management
  • Building a culture of accountability and member service

Think of a new CEO as a new head chef taking over an established kitchen. The recipes, the regulars and the staff are already there. The trick is improving what works without scaring off the customers who love it. Maghupoy’s list above suggests she knows how to do exactly that.

What She Plans to Do

Maghupoy says she’s honored to join. She calls the Board’s commitment to the mission, the employees and the communities “impressive” and a “strong foundation” for what she describes as the next chapter. First on her agenda is listening: she wants to get to know employees, members and community partners in both South Carolina and Texas. She also sees “tremendous opportunity” to strengthen member relationships, pursue sustainable growth and keep Secured Advantage a strong, relevant financial partner for generations of new members.

The Person Behind the Title

Maghupoy holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Faulkner University, and she is a Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE). A native of the Mobile, Alabama area, she is the mother of two daughters. Away from work, she enjoys family time, cheering on her daughters’ academic and athletic pursuits, and community involvement. As she relocates to South Carolina, she’s looking forward to getting involved in Simpsonville, greater Greenville and Iowa Park.

If you’re a Secured Advantage member, expect to see more of her around town, and expect a leader whose stated priorities are stronger relationships, steady growth and better ways to bank. If you’re not, it’s a good reminder that a credit union’s leadership shapes the service you get at the counter and on your phone.

Maghupoy was placed by executive search and leadership development firm DDJ Myers.
