Numerica Credit Union just scored a serious financial heavyweight for its leadership team. Cory Bartheld is stepping into the CFO chair, bringing with him over two decades of experience wrangling numbers at some pretty major financial institutions.
In his new role, Bartheld will be the person making sure all the finance, treasury, and accounting pieces fit together nicely. Think of him as the financial architect ensuring Numerica stays rock-solid while still having room to invest in what matters: the people who bank there, the employees who make it run, and the communities they all call home.
Here’s the thing about Bartheld’s resume—it’s stacked. He spent more than 20 years mastering the art of financial planning, capital management, and those strategic decisions that can make or break an organization. His most recent gig? Managing director and head of Financial Planning & Analysis at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Americas. That’s where he led the entire enterprise’s financial planning and forecasting operations. Before that, he was the divisional CFO for MUFG Union Bank’s community banking group, so he knows the community banking world inside and out.
“I’m honored to join an organization with such a strong commitment to its members and the communities it serves,” Bartheld said. “Numerica has built an outstanding reputation for combining financial strength with a genuine purpose. I look forward to helping support that mission and positioning the credit union for continued long-term success.”
The credentials don’t stop there. Bartheld earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and mathematics from Washington State University—yes, that’s three majors, overachiever alert—and he’s also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He’s an active member of the Seattle Society of Financial Analysts, because apparently he also finds time for professional organizations between all that number crunching.
