DCUC Brings in Elizabeth Eurgubian of Atlas Advocacy to Give Members Compliance Help on Call

Elizabeth Eurgubian, Partner, Atlas Advocacy

Credit unions in the Defense Credit Union Council can now pick up the phone and get answers to compliance questions from a former NCUA official.

The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) has expanded its regulatory advocacy work with Elizabeth Eurgubian, Partner at Atlas Advocacy, and the new arrangement comes with services built to make regulatory rules easier to understand and manage.

Two pieces stand out. Members get on-call support for their compliance inquiries, and they get quarterly webinars covering regulatory and compliance issues on the horizon. In short, a helpline for today’s problems and a weather forecast for tomorrow’s.

DCUC President/CEO Anthony Hernandez, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, says the timing makes sense. “Regulatory and compliance demands continue to grow more complex for credit unions, and DCUC is committed to ensuring our members have the support and insight they need to navigate those challenges,” he says. Adding Eurgubian and Atlas Advocacy, he explains, means practical services that let members handle compliance more efficiently and put more energy into serving their members.

Jason Stverak, DCUC Chief Advocacy Officer, sees a two-way benefit. The expansion strengthens DCUC’s ability to advocate on regulatory issues, he says, while also delivering direct, actionable support to members. The goal is to make it easier for them to stay informed, manage compliance, and keep their focus on the people they serve.

Eurgubian, for her part, calls the work a natural fit. “I’m proud to be able to contribute to the great work of DCUC,” she says. “Regulatory compliance is critical to the health and well-being of credit unions and the system, and it is a top priority for DCUC.”

Her résumé backs that up. Eurgubian most recently served as Director of the Office of External Affairs and Communications at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and she was Policy Advisor to former Chairman Todd Harper. Before the NCUA, she was Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer for Regulatory Affairs at the Credit Union National Association, now America’s Credit Unions. Earlier stops include a stint as regulatory attorney for the Independent Community Bankers of America, a role as in-house counsel to Sallie Mae, Inc., and a post as an attorney with the Federal Reserve.

With this partnership, DCUC doubles down on regulatory advocacy and on practical resources for credit unions, their members, and the communities they serve.
