Delta Community Credit Union just upped the ante on its annual giving program.
And by “upped the ante,” we mean they’re handing out significantly bigger checks this year.
The credit union—Georgia’s largest, for those keeping track—is now accepting applications for its 2027 Philanthropic Fund Program. The big change? They’re ditching their old tiered structure and going all-in with 10 grants of $15,000 each. That’s $150,000 total going directly to organizations doing meaningful work in the community.
“These larger grant amounts will ensure our Philanthropic Fund Program continues to deliver meaningful support to deserving organizations and allow them to do even more,” said Hank Halter, Delta Community’s CEO. Translation: bigger grants mean bigger impact for the families and communities these nonprofits serve.
What Delta Community Is Looking For
The credit union isn’t just throwing money around randomly (though that would be entertaining to watch). They’re specifically looking to partner with metro Atlanta nonprofits focused on two key areas: helping families get their financial house in order and improving the overall well-being—both physical and financial—of young people.
Makes sense, given that Delta Community operates as a not-for-profit financial cooperative. They’re putting their money where their mission is.
A Track Record of Community Investment
This isn’t Delta Community’s first rodeo. Since launching the Philanthropic Fund Program back in 2013, they’ve invested roughly $1.4 million across more than 260 organizations. Those nonprofit partners have used that funding to provide educational opportunities, job and career training, medical services, and human services support to people who need it most.
And the Philanthropic Fund Program is just one piece of the puzzle. Delta Community also supports local communities through scholarships, school partnerships, free financial workshops, and partnerships with chambers of commerce and civic organizations. They’re basically the neighbor who’s always showing up with helpful resources—and we’re here for it.
