TBA Credit Union just handed out four scholarships worth $2,000 each to local students who’ve mastered the art of both hitting the books and helping their neighbors.
The Invested In Scholarship program—which has been around since 2019—isn’t your typical “just have a stellar GPA and you’re in” situation. Sure, academics matter, but TBACU is really looking for students who show up for their communities. Think volunteers, helpers, and those rare teenagers who actually understand that the world doesn’t revolve around them.
This year’s winners represent some serious local talent:
- Dawson P. from Traverse City Central High School
- Eden M. from Grand Traverse Academy
- Paloma C. from Interlochen Arts Academy
- Tucker B. from Traverse City West High School
A three-person scholarship committee made up of TBA Credit Union team members reviewed all the applications, weighing everything from academic ambitions to how each student gives back to their community. No easy task when you’re deciding who gets that kind of financial support for college.
If you know a student who’s racking up volunteer hours alongside AP credits, point them toward tbacu.com/investedin/tbacu-invested-in-scholarship/ to learn about applying next year.
For context, TBA Credit Union serves more than 20,000 members throughout Michigan with $383 million in assets. Beyond their two Traverse City branches and call center, members can access over 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide through the CO-OP Network, plus 300+ Xtend Shared Branching locations when they need in-person service on the road.
