Who Can Apply?
If you’re a full-time teacher in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, or Ventura counties, you’re in. California Credit Union members who teach are also eligible, regardless of location. The main requirement? Your project needs to be genuinely innovative—something with clear learning goals that addresses a real need in your classroom.
“Some of the most memorable learning experiences begin with a teacher’s creative idea,” said Marvel Ford, President of the California Credit Union Foundation. “Through our Teacher Grant program, we are proud to help educators bring those ideas to life and give students new opportunities to explore, experiment and connect with learning in meaningful ways.”
What Kinds of Projects Get Funded?
Past winners have ranged all over the map. We’re talking water rocket experiments that turn physics into something kids actually want to participate in. American Sign Language programs that open up new ways to communicate. Even aerial drone workshops that blend tech skills with hands-on learning.
The common thread? They’re all creative approaches that tackle specific educational challenges in ways that traditional funding doesn’t always cover.

The process is straightforward: review the program guidelines, submit your application online, and cross your fingers. The deadline is September 12, 2026, so you’ve got time to refine that idea you’ve been mulling over.
Since launching back in 2012, this program has distributed $235,000 to Southern California teachers. That’s a lot of classroom magic that might not have happened otherwise.
