Nothing says “you’ve made it” quite like having multiple mayors declare a day in your honor.
Texas Trust Credit Union is finding that out firsthand as it celebrates nine decades of existence—and four Texas mayors are rolling out the official proclamations to prove it.
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross is joined by the leaders of Grand Prairie, Athens, and San Angelo in declaring official “Texas Trust Credit Union Day” celebrations this month. It’s a coordinated tip of the hat to an institution that started in 1936 with just 10 aircraft employees and somehow grew into a $2 billion pillar of the state economy.
That’s not just growth—that’s the financial equivalent of going from a garage band to headlining stadiums.
What the Mayors Are Saying
“Texas Trust Credit Union is a vital part of the fabric of our city and a true partner in the American Dream,” Mayor Ross said from Arlington, where the credit union’s headquarters calls home. “From their strategic investments in our downtown to their historic support for Arlington Collegiate High School, they have shown what it means to be a community-first organization.”
The proclamations aren’t just ceremonial fluff, either. Each one highlights how Texas Trust has genuinely shaped its corner of the state:
The Regional Impact Breakdown
North Texas: Grand Prairie is recognizing roots that stretch back to 1948, plus the credit union’s cultural footprint through the Texas Trust CU Theatre (yes, that theatre).
East Texas: Athens is celebrating the expansion that came through merging with Henderson County Teachers Federal Credit Union, along with the credit union crossing the $1 million giving threshold. That’s a lot of community investment.
West Texas: San Angelo’s proclamation honors the classic credit union “people helping people” philosophy as Texas Trust continues growing its Concho Valley presence.
90 Years Calls for 90 Acts of Kindness
Texas Trust isn’t just accepting congratulations and calling it a day. The credit union is launching a “90 Random Acts of Kindness” initiative throughout the month. Employees across all three regions will surprise communities with everything from local teacher grants to support for mission-driven nonprofits.
It’s a fitting way to mark the occasion—less cake and confetti, more tangible impact.
“Having Mayor Ross and his fellow leaders across Texas join us in this celebration is an incredible honor,” said Jim Minge, CEO of Texas Trust Credit Union. “It reinforces our mission to stay local and give back to the communities that have supported us for 90 years.”
From 10 people to a statewide institution with mayoral endorsements—not a bad trajectory for nearly a century in business. Here’s to the next 90.
