There’s something beautifully practical about celebrating a brand merger with backpacks and school supplies.
While most companies mark these occasions with ribbon cuttings and champagne toasts, Texans Credit Union took a different approach at its newly rebranded Irving location.
The credit union threw open the doors at 555 Cimarron Trail—formerly home to Las Colinas Federal Credit Union—and invited the community to its annual back-to-school giveaway. More than 350 backpacks stuffed with school supplies found new homes with local students, helping families dodge at least some of those eye-watering back-to-school costs we all know too well.
And because no community event is complete without good food, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs and the Mr. Sugar Rush ice cream truck showed up to handle the culinary side of things. (If you’re going to rebrand, you might as well do it with corn dogs, right?)
This event marked Texans Credit Union’s first big community gathering at the Irving branch since the merger wrapped up earlier this year. For Kevin Scott, Senior Vice President at Texans Credit Union and former CEO of Las Colinas Federal Credit Union, the continuity meant everything.
“One of the things that always defined Las Colinas Federal Credit Union was our commitment to putting people first and supporting the communities we call home,” Scott said. “Seeing that same spirit on display at this backpack giveaway makes me incredibly proud to be a part of Texans Credit Union.”
The Irving location is one of three branches that have gotten the rebrand treatment since the two credit unions joined forces. The merger expanded the network to 14 branches across North Texas, giving members—both new and longtime—access to upgraded digital banking tools, personal and business financial services, and the kind of personalized service that actually feels personal.
It’s a reminder that sometimes the best way to celebrate change is by staying true to what mattered in the first place: showing up for your community when it counts.
