LAFCU Makes American Banker’s Best Credit Unions to Work For List for the Fourth Time

The Lansing-based credit union has been named one of American Banker’s Best Credit Unions to Work For in 2026. It’s the fourth time LAFCU has landed on the national list. The program spotlights credit unions that put real effort into their employees and workplace culture, and LAFCU was recognized in the largest asset category, which covers credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.

Part of the ranking comes straight from employee feedback. LAFCU’s survey results this year point to strong satisfaction across the board:

• 86% of responding employees said they are very satisfied with LAFCU as an employer.
• 88% said they are willing to give extra effort to help the organization succeed.
• Employees repeatedly cited the credit union’s mission and values as a big part of the experience.

CEO Patrick Spyke said the results reflect what the credit union is aiming for. “People do their best work when they have the opportunity to use their strengths and pursue the work they’re passionate about,” he said. “At LAFCU, we want to create an environment where people feel valued, supported and encouraged to find their path, while knowing the work they do matters to our members and communities. Being named one of the Best Credit Unions to Work For for the fourth time tells us we’re continuing to build a workplace where people want to grow and make a difference.”

Employees backed that up in their own words. “We live our mission and our values,” one said. “We roll our sleeves up and do the work.” Another described a welcoming, diverse environment and pointed to the credit union’s commitment to its employees, the community and serving the underserved.

The new recognition joins other recent workplace honors for LAFCU, including its 2026 designations as a Best Place to Work for Career Growth and a Best Place to Work for Women.
