Lumin Signal Shows Banks and Credit Unions Where Digital Banking Users Get Stuck, Then Helps Fix It

A professional-looking adult closely studying a digital interface on a laptop screen, with a subtle expression of clarity, discovery, and confident understanding.

A product manager at a credit union spots a number she doesn’t like. Only a sliver of members use Skip-A-Pay, even though the feature has been live for a year.

Is it buried? Confusing? Does nobody know it exists? She has the usage counts, but they can’t tell her why. And fixing it means filing a request with engineering and waiting for the next release.

Lumin Digital is aiming at exactly that problem. The company, which calls itself the Compounding Growth Platform for banks and credit unions, has announced the commercial launch of Lumin Signal. It shows institutions how retail and business users move through digital banking, and it lets them act on what they find without leaving the Lumin platform.

Seeing the experience, not just the transactions

Financial institutions already know what users do: log on, pay bills, move money, deposit checks. Lumin Signal looks at everything around those actions. How do people travel through the platform? Which features do they touch? Where do they give up halfway? Which capabilities go undiscovered? Institutions can respond inside the digital experience itself and then measure the result, which creates a steady loop between understanding behavior and improving the product.

“As digital banking plays a bigger role in the relationship between financial institutions and their users, understanding how users engage with that experience becomes increasingly important,” said Sean Weadock, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Lumin Digital. “Lumin Signal gives our clients a deeper understanding of how people are using digital banking, helping them identify opportunities to increase adoption, improve the experience, and generate more value for the capabilities they already have.”

Ready on day one

Standalone behavioral analytics tools usually demand a lot of setup before they produce anything useful. Lumin Signal is built specifically for the Lumin platform and arrives preconfigured across more than 100 pages and 700 features. Those features are already tagged in banking language, including Stop Payment, Skip-A-Pay, Remote Deposit Capture, and Positive Pay, so analysis can start right away.

What’s in the box

  • Behavioral analytics: Pre-built dashboards track feature adoption, session paths, funnel drop-off, and retention. No data team or custom reporting is needed. Results can be sliced across eight ready-to-use audience segments, including account tenure.
  • Guides: Admins create and publish in-app walkthroughs, tooltips, announcements, and onboarding flows from the Lumin Signal interface. There’s no engineering work, no integration project, and no waiting on a release, so a guide can go live the same day someone thinks of it. Lumin offers an example: one eStatement adoption guide that converts 15% of a 100,000-account paper-statement base could be worth roughly $540,000 a year.
  • Surveys: In-app surveys collect feedback in context, at the moments that matter, with no separate research effort.

How it fits with what’s already there

Since Lumin Signal runs natively inside the platform, clients don’t need to implement and manage a third-party tool or take on another vendor relationship. It also pairs with Lumin Analytics, which offers individual, transaction-level visibility. Analytics tells an institution what a specific user did. Signal shows how the broader user base experienced it and supplies the tools to respond. The two can be bought separately.

The boardroom angle

Adoption numbers are tracked everywhere, but proving the return on digital banking investments has stayed mostly ad hoc. By tying user experience data to concrete actions, Lumin Signal gives bank and credit union leaders a clearer way to show executives and the board what their digital spending is actually producing.

For institutions sitting on features nobody uses, the pitch is simple: find the gap, close it the same day, and have the numbers to prove it worked.
