Michigan Strengthens the Movement with a $130K Investment in CU House

Michigan credit unions collectively contributed $130,000 during the first quarter of 2026 through their Michigan Credit Union League affiliation dues to support the modernization of Credit Union House in Washington, D.C.

This investment reinforces Michigan’s longstanding commitment to strong, effective advocacy on behalf of the credit union movement at the national level.

This contribution reflects support from Michigan credit unions as part of the 2026 MCUL affiliation dues cycle only and is separate from additional voluntary contributions made by Michigan credit unions in 2025 or other fundraising efforts related to the project.

Credit unions across Michigan stepped up to support this critical investment in the movement’s national advocacy infrastructure. Collectively, these contributions represent a significant share of the overall fundraising effort and underscore Michigan credit unions’ leadership in advancing issues that protect and strengthen credit unions nationwide.

“Michigan credit unions have a strong history of stepping up to support advocacy that strengthens our entire movement,” said MCUL President/CEO Patty Corkery. “This investment in the Credit Union House modernization reflects our commitment to ensuring credit unions have a strong, effective presence in Washington, D.C., and a place to connect and help shape the future of advocacy on behalf of our members and communities.”

Established in 2001, Credit Union House has served as a central hub for credit union advocacy and collaboration for more than two decades, welcoming more than 2,000 visitors annually. The modernization project will transform the space into an even more powerful advocacy resource through state-of-the-art technology upgrades, real-time data capabilities and expanded meeting spaces designed to strengthen engagement with policymakers and key stakeholders.

To date, Credit Union House has secured 81% of its overall funding goal through donations from credit unions and individuals nationwide, with Michigan credit unions playing a pivotal role in that progress.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Michigan Credit Union League for their leadership and to Michigan’s credit unions for stepping up with such strong support of Credit Union House,” said Sue McCue, Managing Director of Credit Union House. “Their investment in this powerful, multidimensional advocacy tool strengthens our ability to advance the credit union mission in Washington, D.C.”

The Credit Union House modernization project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027 and continues to accept donations.
