Mike Schenck has spent more than 30 years in financial services, and he’s now bringing all of it to TopLine Financial Credit Union as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer.
Schenck arrives from Westmark Credit Union, where he most recently served as President and CEO. That’s a notable move: he’s going from running the whole shop to running one of its most important departments. It’s a bit like a head chef taking over the line at a restaurant he admires. He already knows how the entire kitchen works, which makes him that much better at the station where the orders come in.
His résumé covers the full range of lending work:
- Chief Lending Officer: he has led lending teams before.
- Branch Manager: he has run branch teams and served members face to face.
- Loan Officer: he has worked the front lines, handling individual loans.
- President and CEO: most recently at Westmark Credit Union.
That mix matters. Lending decisions land differently depending on where you sit, and Schenck has sat in most of the chairs.
Mick Olson, President and CEO of TopLine Financial Credit Union, said the team is glad to have him. “We’re excited to welcome Mike Schenck — an accomplished banking executive with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry — to our TopLine team,” Olson said. “His lending background and leadership style will be a great addition to TopLine, and an asset for the communities we serve.”
What comes next is worth watching. Members and the surrounding communities will want to see how Schenck shapes TopLine’s lending team and what that means for the loan products and service they rely on. Expect more detail as he settles into the role.
