This past July, Inspire Federal Credit Union teamed up with the Newtown Business Association to make the 2026 Newtown Antique and Classic Car Show one for the books.
As presenting sponsor, Inspire didn’t just slap their logo on a banner and call it a day. They showed up ready to connect with the community, celebrate local businesses, and yes, help crown a very unexpected champion.
And the Winner Is… A Soviet Classic?
Here’s where things get interesting. The event introduced something new this year: the Inspire People’s Choice Award, giving attendees the power to vote for their favorite ride. The winner? Nikita Schvarts of Langhorne and his 1980 Lada 2103. If you’re not familiar with Ladas, they’re basically the Soviet Union’s answer to affordable transportation—not exactly what you’d expect to steal the show at an American car event. But that’s the beauty of letting the people decide.
More Than Just Shiny Cars
“At Inspire, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful relationships and memorable experiences,” explained Jim Merrill, President and CEO of Inspire Federal Credit Union. “Our partnership with the Newtown Business Association allowed us to connect with residents in a genuine way while celebrating the people, businesses, and traditions that make Newtown unique.”

And the numbers back that up. Merrill noted that both attendance and engagement blew past their expectations. “The response to our sponsorship and brand presence throughout the day was tremendous,” he said. “We had the opportunity to meet hundreds of community members, share the Inspire story, and create a new tradition through the People’s Choice Award.”
