Financial Plus Credit Union Awards $110,000 to Metro Community Development Through FHLBank Indianapolis Grant Program

Financial Plus Credit Union proudly presented Metro Community Development $110,000 through FHLBank Indianapolis’s Community Multiplier – Member Match Program.

Financial Plus Credit Union, a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank Indianapolis), has awarded $110,000 in total funding to Metro Community Development (MCD) to support economic and housing initiatives in Flint and Genesee County. The funding includes a $100,000 grant awarded through FHLBank Indianapolis’ Community Multiplier – Member Match Program, as well as an additional $10,000 donation from Financial Plus.

The grant will support MCD’s in-fill modular home development program in a Flint neighborhood, covering the remaining costs needed to complete the project. Upon completion, the program will help four families achieve their dream of homeownership with affordable monthly payments designed to align with local rental rates. Beyond supporting individual families, the development will strengthen an existing neighborhood and serve as a catalyst for future re-development.

“Having served on Metro’s board for years, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible work they do to support our community,” said Rachelle Kippe, SVP of Lending at Financial Plus Credit Union. “This partnership with FHLBank Indianapolis through the Community Multiplier – Member Match Program allows us to directly invest in that mission. It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when financial institutions and nonprofits work together to expand access to affordable housing. This grant is not just an investment in housing, it’s an investment in stability, opportunity, and a stronger future for our community.”

“We are so appreciative of the generous support from our partners, Financial Plus Credit Union and FHLBank Indianapolis, in supporting this housing project,” said Brian G. Glowiak, Chief Executive Officer of Metro Community Development. “This funding will empower Metro to build four new homes that will positively impact the revitalization of north Flint and simultaneously make homeownership, a tangible, wealth-building investment, accessible for local families. Thank you once again for your invaluablesupport and for believing in our mission!”

The Community Multiplier – Member Match program is FHLBank Indianapolis’ newest program offering, designed to support targeted affordable housing initiatives that fall outside of FHLBank Indianapolis’ other grant programs. Community Multiplier offers grants between $25,000 and $125,000 for non-profit organizations headquartered in Indiana or Michigan who partner with an FHLBank Indianapolis member financial institution on targeted affordable housing initiatives. The program opened March 27, 2025, with a $5 million allocation and is available until October 1, 2025, or until funds are exhausted.
