You know how some people just get it? Reagan Pugh is one of those people. And now, she’s putting two decades of credit union know-how to work as the new board chair of Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union.
Pugh, who currently works as an executive recruiter at Cornerstone Resources, just landed the top spot on Cy-Fair FCU’s board—a $387 million-asset credit union where she’ll help steer the ship on strategic decisions. It’s not exactly a new gig for her, though. She’s been serving on the board for over three years, previously as both director and treasurer, so she knows the organization inside and out.
The Long Road to the Chair
Here’s what makes Pugh’s story interesting: she’s seen the credit union world from pretty much every angle. She started her career on the front lines as a financial services rep, doing the day-to-day work of opening accounts and processing loans. From there, she moved into loan underwriting, then climbed the ladder into management. We’re talking assistant vice president running branch operations, then vice president of operations. That’s the kind of experience you can’t fake.
These days, she’s helping credit unions across the country find their next executives through her work at Cornerstone Resources. Basically, she’s become the person who knows what great credit union leadership looks like—because she’s been there, done that, and now helps others find the right people to do it too.
What Her New Role Means
Cy-Fair FCU President Cameron Dickey didn’t hold back when talking about what Pugh brings to the table. “Since joining our board of directors, Reagan has brought a valuable perspective shaped by years of executive recruitment, talent strategy, and organizational leadership,” he said. “Her insight has strengthened our governance discussions, particularly in the areas of organizational culture, leadership development, succession planning, and talent retention.”
Translation? Pugh gets that success isn’t just about the numbers on a balance sheet. It’s about people—finding them, keeping them, and helping them grow. Dickey noted that her leadership has kept the board focused on both financial performance and the equally important work of building a strong organizational culture.
The Industry Weighs In
Marcus Cotton, Vice President of Executive Search at Cornerstone Resources, put it pretty simply: Pugh has the resume that makes her perfect for this role. “Reagan has served as a credit union vice president of operations, supported the credit union movement through the Cornerstone League, and successfully recruited executive leaders for credit unions nationwide through Cornerstone Resources,” Cotton explained. “That combination of operational, strategic, and leadership experience gives her a unique perspective that will serve Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union well.”
As for Pugh herself? She’s keeping it humble. “Being elected board chair is a distinguished honor,” she said. “I am grateful for the trust and confidence my fellow board members have placed in me to serve in this leadership role. I look forward to working alongside the board, management team, and members to support the continued growth and success of our credit union.”
