Most career ladders have a few rungs missing. Mindy Estok’s at Chartway Credit Union has all of them, and she just reached the top of the lending branch. The credit union has promoted her to chief lending officer, a seat on its executive leadership team.

What the New Role Covers

Estok spent the past stretch as senior vice president of real estate lending. Now her territory is much bigger. She’ll provide strategic leadership across Chartway’s consumer, real estate and commercial lending teams, and she’ll help steer the credit union’s wider lending and credit risk management strategy.

She’s also charged with driving growth, diversification and innovation across the lending portfolio, all in service of what members need.

What Leadership Is Saying

Rob Keatts, Chartway’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, pointed to her track record. “Mindy’s commitment to Chartway and our members has made a meaningful impact across the credit union for nearly three decades,” he said. “I’m excited to see her continued growth at Chartway and am confident her sustained leadership will help move our lending business forward.”

Estok, for her part, framed the promotion around the people Chartway serves. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this role at an organization that has been such an important part of my career,” she said. “Lending helps our members achieve their financial goals and I look forward to my continued work alongside our talented teams to build on what we’ve accomplished, strengthen how we serve our members, and create new opportunities for growth.”

A Career Built From the Ground Up

Estok joined Chartway nearly 30 years ago as a consumer loan consultant, working directly with borrowers. From there she moved steadily up through the organization, taking on several leadership roles along the way:

  • Vice president of project management
  • Senior vice president of member experience
  • Senior vice president of real estate lending

That mix of experience gave her deep institutional knowledge and a solid foundation, both of which she now brings to overseeing Chartway’s overall lending strategy.

What It Means for Members

If you borrow from Chartway, whether for a car, a home or a business, the person shaping its lending direction started on the front lines helping people get loans. Expect decisions informed by how members actually experience the process, and a leader who knows the organization inside and out.
