Here’s something you don’t see every day: a financial institution that actually gets it.
People’s Credit Union is rolling out an Essentials Drive that’s less about checking boxes and more about checking in on the mental health of local kids and teens.
Running through September 11th at all six branch locations, the drive is collecting the kind of stuff that makes a real difference—think personal hygiene essentials and creative supplies that give young people healthy ways to express themselves. Because sometimes a sketchbook or a fresh set of markers can be exactly what a struggling teen needs to work through a tough day.
The donations will go directly to local nonprofit partners who work with children and adolescents in mental wellness programs. It’s all part of the credit union’s annual Day of Purpose, happening September 17th, when they’ll close up shop entirely so their whole team can get out into the community and volunteer. (Yes, even the Member Service Center is shutting down for the day.)
What They’re Looking For
Whether you’re a member, employee, or just someone in the community who wants to help, you can drop off donations at any branch. Here’s what’s on the wish list:
Personal Hygiene Essentials
- Lotion
- Deodorant
- Brushes & Combs

- Shampoo + Conditioner
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- Feminine Hygiene Products
Creative & Expressive Outlets
- Journals

It’s a simple ask with a big impact. Because when we talk about supporting youth mental health, we’re not just talking about therapy sessions and medication—we’re talking about giving kids the tools to feel confident, creative, and cared for in their everyday lives.
