Royal Credit Union Is Handing Out $3,000 to One Lucky Chippewa Valley Small Business

Got a small business in the Chippewa Valley? Royal Credit Union just might become your new favorite financial institution.

They’ve rolled out a Small Business Grant program, and they’re putting $3,000 on the table for one local entrepreneur who could use a financial boost.

Here’s the deal: If your business calls one of these Wisconsin counties home—Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Trempealeau, or Taylor—you’re in the running. The application window is open right now and stays that way until October 1, 2026. Come November, they’ll announce the winner.

This isn’t just about tossing money around (though that’s certainly nice). Royal designed this program specifically to help early-stage and growing businesses get their hands on resources that actually move the needle.

“Small businesses play a vital role in creating vibrant communities and local economic growth,” explains Karlee Wallin, VP of Business Banking at Royal. “Whether you’re just getting started or building momentum, this $3,000 grant can help support meaningful investments in your business, from startup costs to equipment and technology upgrades.”

Translation? That $3,000 could go toward practically anything your business needs—new equipment, technology that doesn’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window, or covering those startup costs that seem to multiply overnight.

How to Get Your Name in the Hat

Interested business owners can apply through Royal’s online application process. No need to put on pants and visit a branch—just hop online and fill out the form. Royal will evaluate applications using a scoring system that looks at three main factors: your financial need, how solid your business plan is, and the impact you’re making in the community.

Jennifer McHugh, Royal’s VP of Community Engagement, sums up the philosophy behind the grant: “This Small Business Grant reflects the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ and Royal’s commitment to creating a positive impact in the lives we touch. We are proud to support entrepreneurs and small business owners whose passion, innovation, and dedication help strengthen our communities and create opportunities for others.”

In other words, Royal gets it. Small businesses aren’t just about profit margins and quarterly reports—they’re the backbone of communities, creating jobs and giving neighborhoods their unique character. And sometimes, a well-timed $3,000 can make all the difference.
