Here’s something you don’t see every day: a debit card that actually makes you excited to spend money. Well, sort of.
Pitt Athletics and Clearview Federal Credit Union just leveled up their partnership with something pretty cool—a co-branded debit card that lets Panthers fans rep their team every single time they make a purchase. Whether you’re grabbing coffee before the game or doing your weekly grocery run, that iconic Pitt logo in royal blue against a gold background goes everywhere your wallet does.
The card became available on September 1st, and it’s exclusive to Clearview members with an eligible checking account. New members and longtime Clearview folks alike can request one online or swing by any of their financial centers to get their hands on it.
More Than Just a Pretty Card
This launch is part of a bigger story—Clearview is extending and expanding its role as the Official Credit Union of the Pitt Panthers, a partnership that kicked off back in 2021. And they’re not just slapping a logo on a piece of plastic and calling it a day.
“Clearview Federal Credit Union has been an outstanding partner to Pitt Athletics since 2021 and this expansion reflects the strength of that relationship,” said C. Allen Greene, Pitt’s Director of Athletics. “The new debit card gives our fans a tangible way to carry their Pitt pride with them every day and we are grateful for Clearview’s continued investment in our student-athletes, athletic department and community.”
The partnership is getting the NIL treatment too. Clearview is teaming up with H2PNIL—that’s Pitt’s Name, Image, and Likeness platform—to bring select Panthers student-athletes into the mix, giving them opportunities to promote the new card. It’s a win-win: students get NIL opportunities, fans get to see their favorite athletes involved, and the card gets some serious visibility.
Beyond the Card: What Else Is New
The debit card is the flashy headline, but it’s just one piece of a much broader partnership expansion. Throughout the fall, Clearview is rolling out the red carpet (or should we say blue and gold carpet?) with a presence at select Pitt Football games and on campus. Fans can check out the card in person and even sign up on the spot.
But wait, there’s more. Clearview is now the Presenting Partner of the Pitt Gameday App—you know, that digital hub where fans track everything happening on game day. They’re also getting prominent placement with sideline signage at Acrisure Stadium and score table LED signage at the brand-new Victory Heights athletic complex.
Translation: if you’re a Pitt fan, you’re going to be seeing a lot more of Clearview, and in all the right places.
Why This Partnership Makes Sense
Lisa Florian, President and CEO of Clearview Federal Credit Union, put it perfectly: “Our relationship with Pitt Athletics has always been about more than what happens on gameday. It’s about creating connections that matter to our members and to the greater Pittsburgh community. This growth reflects Clearview’s commitment to the partnership and the future we are building together.”
It’s worth noting that Clearview isn’t some small-time operation. They’re the largest credit union in Southwestern Pennsylvania, serving more than 140,000 members with over $2 billion in assets. They’ve got financial centers throughout the region and have racked up recognition from Newsweek and the Pittsburgh Business Times for their workplace culture and community impact.
The original 2021 partnership already included some solid perks: exclusivity in the credit union category, presenting sponsorship of the Jr. Panthers Kids Club, the football and men’s basketball 50/50 raffle, and signage throughout Pitt Athletics facilities. This new multiyear deal takes all of that and cranks it up several notches.
The Bigger Picture
Paul Archey, President at JMI Sports (Pitt’s exclusive multimedia rights partner, operating locally as Pitt Sports Marketing), helped broker this expanded partnership. “This year, Clearview Federal Credit Union celebrates six years as an official partner of Pitt Athletics,” he said. “Clearview understands the value of an integrated partnership and the importance of creating innovative ways for Panther fans to bring home a piece of the program.”
And honestly? A co-branded debit card is pretty innovative. It’s one thing to wear a jersey on game day. It’s another to carry your team pride in your wallet 365 days a year. Every coffee purchase, every tank of gas, every late-night pizza order becomes a tiny declaration of loyalty.
For Pitt fans who take their Panthers pride seriously (and let’s be real, most of you do), this is a no-brainer. It’s functional, it looks good, and it supports a partnership that’s actively investing in Pitt student-athletes and the broader community.
So if you’re a Clearview member—or thinking about becoming one—you might want to check this out. Because nothing says “Hail to Pitt” quite like a debit card that bleeds blue and gold.
