Texans Credit Union announced a promotion within its organization, and the chief risk officer at Chartway Credit Union was recently named a 2026 In-House Counsel Awards honoree.
Recognitions:
- Virginia Business and Virginia Lawyers Weekly have named Melissa Moffa, chief risk officer and general counsel for Chartway Credit Union, a 2026 In-House Counsel Awards honoree. She is one of 31 attorneys from across Virginia selected for this year’s recognition. The In-House Counsel Awards recognize attorneys who navigate complex negotiations, represent their organizations in high-stakes litigation, protect important organizational assets, and serve as leaders in Virginia’s in-house legal community. Honorees are selected by an internal committee based on documented professional accomplishments, community service, and mentorship.
- During the 2026 Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) Annual Meeting, Iowa credit union awards were presented to individuals recognized for their leadership, innovation and service.
- Tami Lichtenberg (MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union, Director) and Nick Waters (Veridian Credit Union, Director) received the Cooperative Spirit Volunteer Award in acknowledgment to their commitment and leadership to the credit union movement.
- Jami Weems (Serve Credit Union, CEO) was honored with the Cooperative Spirit Professional Award in recognition of her outstanding service to credit unions and advocacy for the credit union movement.
- Pat Drennen (1st Gateway Credit Union, CEO) was presented the Heritage Award, which recognizes the lifetime achievements of individuals who have been passionate ambassadors of credit unions throughout their career.
- Samantha Eaton (Members Community Credit Union, VP) and Jordyn Schmitt (GreenState Credit Union, Senior Paralegal) received the Young Professional Award which highlights young up-and-comers who are making a difference in their credit union and community.
- Marian Holmes (Community 1st Credit Union, VP of Consumer Lending and Government Affairs) and Crystal Pluth (Citizens Community Credit Union, VP of Development ) were awarded ICUL Champions of the Year, which acknowledges champions whose outstanding commitment has made a significant impact within their credit union and the broader movement.
Promotions:
- Texans Credit Union announced the promotion of Matt Spieler to vice president of Credit & Fraud Solutions, expanding his leadership responsibilities across the credit union’s Collections and Fraud departments. As vice president of Credit & Fraud Solutions, Spieler will provide strategic leadership over the Collections and Fraud departments. He will also oversee delinquency and recovery operations and work closely with other departments to develop proactive solutions that support Texans Credit Union’s financial health while continuing to deliver exceptional service to members.
- QuantyPhi is pleased to announce the promotion of Kyle Kabara to Vice President ALM & Investments, recognizing his leadership, expertise and significant contributions to the growth of QuantyPhi and the continued success of ALM360. In his new role, Kabara will help expand the reach and impact of ALM360 while continuing to serve as a key resource for member credit unions and business partners. He will lead member onboarding and implementation efforts, manage credit union relationships, support business development initiatives and help ensure members receive the expertise and service they have come to expect from QuantyPhi.

- More than 600 credit union leaders, board members, young professionals and industry partners gathered in Des Moines September 16–18 for the Iowa Credit Union Convention. The event featured educational sessions designed to provide credit unions with insights and tools to strengthen the financial well-being of Iowans and Iowa communities. During the annual meeting, Iowa Credit Union League Board Members were sworn in to serve as strategic leaders for Iowa’s credit unions. The board members include:
